"It Fell in Silence: The Collapse of World Trade Center 7"

Many Americans are unaware that three buildings within the World Trade Center complex fell on September 11, 2001. Located just 300 feet from the North Tower, World Trade Center 7 (WTC 7) was a forty-seven story steel frame building, which collapsed vertically in 6.5 seconds more than 6 hours after the collapse of the Twin Towers. Although the collapse of the towers was televised hundreds of times, the collapse of WTC 7 was seldom shown or discussed. The widely publicized 9/11 Commission Report fails to even mention the collapse of WTC 7 in its 568 pages. Looking beyond the limited information provided by the mass media, activist artist, Nathan Janes explores a number of questions related to the collapse of WTC 7 in his newest work. Unplug the Signal: The Truth Will Not Be Televised

A flow of information is constantly streaming from the television set; a bombardment of words and pictures. The speed at which this information is communicated makes it easy for the signal to take control, switching the viewer's brain to stand-by as information is absorbed without analysis or question. Today the television's constant signal shapes the conclusions of the masses and produces the collective norm. The signal prescribes what is news and what is truth through the words of so-called experts and authorities, gelding the consciousness and independent thoughts of those subjected to it. Through television, the masses can be made to accept the most monstrous distortions of reality. The signal is a chill wind of continuous oppression over the minds of the masses. It controls the management of society and culture, creating uniformity across all subjects.

The fuel for this vehicle of mass deception is a technique known as perception management where an array of psychological techniques are used to alter the truth, leading the viewer to a desired conclusion. Some call this spin or propaganda while others know it as lying. According to Joseph Goebbels, Propaganda Minister for Adolph Hitler, "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it... It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State." Most of what can be found on the nightly news is nothing but advertisements selling more government and a false reality that benefits only those in control. Television is the dictator of information; newspaper and radio are the whisper campaign of the television's message.

It is expected that Americans will consistently prescribe to the doctrine of the television. It is subtly communicated that one should stay within the collective and never challenge the message, for doing so may be considered an aggression towards culture. The message is, "Be a good consumer; always obey authority; you know nothing; listen only to experts; be content and never question or express new ideas." This signal is being broadcast across millions of screens, indoctrinating the unconscious minds of those who choose this as their only reality. Self-censorship occurs when these individuals become so deeply indoctrinated that they are afraid to discuss any information outside the paradigm of television-created culture; they police their thoughts to ensure they won't conflict with this culture. Sadly, many people's reality today does not allow any outside information to process, instead it is written off as conspiracy or blatant lies. Our consciousness has been destroyed so much that fiction has become reality. An entire lifestyle of poisonous foods, pharmaceuticals, and fluoridated water are accepted as safe and sold to us at the cost of our health and well being.

There is a reason for the absence of visual arts in the mainstream society of today. Our society is dominated by huge corporations who not only control what we see on television, in newspapers, and in magazines, but also have enormous power on the actions of our lawmakers and government officials. Because of this, corporations have great influence over what the culture of our country has become. The appreciation of fine art and other cultural traditions is being replaced with the mainstream consumer culture where having more and better things are what is valued most. Fine art is something that is created by individuals or groups of artists working together to convey a message or encourage thinking that reaches outside of the consumer culture. Although fine art too can be used as a symbol of status, the intentions of most fine artists are to create something that is unique and inspires critical thinking. These goals and intentions do not align with the goals of the corporations welding such strong influence on our culture today and so the fine arts are mostly absent from the mainstream. What little art that can be found is created to encourage consumption; it is advertising art.

Outside of the mainstream culture, however, fine art continues to exist and many great fine artists continue to produce work that is appreciated and enjoyed by a small subset of our society. Yet the fine art world is not insulated from the goals and objectives of corporations and the consumerist culture has affected the way that some artists create and produce their work. Many of the more well-known and financially successful artists today do not create much of their own artwork. Instead some have factory-style production lines, where the entire process uses mechanized labor from the inspiration of the work through the production of the art to the mass marketing and sale. Popular artists of today who may only be capable of completing 20-30 original pieces of art a year are suddenly producing over 100 and selling them for upwards of $80,000 a piece and no one seems to notice or care. Art celebrity Andy Warhol who called his studio "The Factory," and used assistants to produce silk screens of his work perhaps first popularized this process, which goes largely unaddressed in the art world today. Whether this phenomonenon is further degrading the fine art culture goes undebated as the subculture becomes further homogenized into the consumerist culture of the mainstream.

How do you know about real concerns in the world if you are stuck within the matrix of mainstream society? Many people accept the world as it is presented to them, in our culture it is presented to us by corporations and is massaged and filtered by their goals and objectives. Fine art can play an important role in disseminating information that is relevant to the world today but goes uncommunicated because it does not fit within the goals of our consumerist culture. However, if selling out to corporations and creating art that only aligns with corporate objectives continues to be the trend then if art is not dead already it is certainly on its deathbed.

Visual symbols represent a language of their own. The most powerful symbols are ironically the most common things in our daily lives, those things that we all too often take for granted. All of the basic things that we see on an everyday basis have the most influence over our lives, both physically and mentally. Images of the sun, moon, food, and water have always been potent symbols within the "ancient mysteries." Anyone who is wise enough to understand the importance of the basic elements of life can use them as symbols to influence the minds of other people. Life can be interpreted in any number of ways, and the most popular interpretation on any given day has everything to do with the deliberate use of symbols by an "intellectual elite." Throughout the ages this has been the case. Within "civilized" society there has always been a priest class who understands the power of symbols, and has used that power to guide the minds of the masses.

One very powerful symbol that we have taken for granted is that of the dog. Dogs have become another "normal" part of our everyday lives that we unfortunately take for granted. However, in the ancient language of symbolism dogs are very important symbols of duality. Their very nature is twofold: one part wild beast, and one part domesticated animal. By the hand of man the dog was taken out of the wild natural kingdom and brought into civilized society. The taming of nature is a very important aspect of the so called "great work" of secret societies. The domestication of wild animals is representative of the power to mold and shape nature according to the will.

As a symbol of duality the dog is said to have the power to walk within "two worlds." Because of this they are often depicted as guardians at the gates which stand between the world of the living and the world of the dead. Dogs are often shown accompanying souls traveling from life to afterlife. In ancient Egypt, Anubis was the dog-headed god of the dead. He played the role of guardian and caretaker of those who travelled from one world to the next. Anyone who is at all familiar with the "ancient mysteries" understands that death and rebirth rituals are extremely important. The philosophical ramifications of this process are far-reaching, and it is important to understand that dogs play an important symbolic role within this mystic rite of passage. Another dog from ancient mythology is Cerberus, the three headed dog which guards the entrance to Hades. He lets souls travel to the "underworld" freely, but does not allow them to come back out. Cerberus represents one of the more fearsome depictions of dogs as well as death itself. It is exactly this "dark" side to death which is again displayed in the Christian belief in Hell. As a high mystery which has forever captured the imagination of man, death is forever to be depicted through the powerful language of symbology. The prominent view on life and afterlife in any given age has everything to do with the specific use of symbols.

Life/death, day/night, light/dark, good/evil are all ways of expressing duality. The dual nature of man has been depicted over and over again through the use of many powerful symbols. The dog symbol, if it is to be understood completely, must be viewed in this context. The dog is actually a symbol of man himself. The dual nature of man can be understood by the classic struggle between good and evil that takes place within our own minds. This dual nature has been symbolized by the dog. The dog is one part wild beast, and one part domesticated animal. The unpredictable wild beast is symbolic of the "emotional body" within the soul of man. It is exactly this chaos which is to be tamed by civilized society. The "rational" aspect of man understands the need for "civilized" life, and can thus act appropriately. When he makes the choice to deny his "animal instincts" he rises above the state of natural chaos, and walks into the order of civilized society. To overcome the dark/ evil chaos of our natural emotions is equivalent to the triumph of good over evil. Our emotions are considered to be the base level function of our own minds. Anyone who is a "slave" to their emotional body is viewed with contempt by those high level initiates within the secret societies who have symbolically overcome their own base nature and "risen" into the light. This light is symbolic of the intellect itself. This is why there is an "intellectual elite" who is in control of the rest of society. They believe that the mass of the population is unable to rise above their most basic reactionary level of thinking, and therefore must be led by those who have been "raised." Because most people are unable to use their intellect, they must be trained like dogs by those who can use their "higher" brain functions. This is the meaning of "order out of chaos." The taming of nature by those who are wise.

Within the mystery school itself, the dog is a symbol of the perfect disciple. The neophyte must be completely obedient to his master. By taking orders without question he is eventually brought into the "light." Total obedience is required to learn the ways of the order. It is very interesting to realize that the supposed "philosophical elect" only become enlightened by following strict orders. They aren't allowed to succumb to the base level behavior of natural humans. In truth, they are not allowed to think for themselves, at least not at first. Ever wonder why FRATernal BROTHERhoods are so wild about humiliating initiation rituals? To become a god among men, you must first become a dog. It is by this process that the death and rebirth ritual can be played out by those who are worthy. To overcome duality is the ultimate goal of the ancient mysteries.

The artwork of Nathan Janes depicts dogs in strangely appropriate situations. Pieces such as "Total Indoctrination" show the dog as a symbol of the mass mind of society. By way of propaganda tools such as the television, the modern priest class controls the mass mind of society as a whole. The media purposely exploits our "lower nature" through the use of "programs" that target our emotions, desires, and survival instincts. The fact that people are compelled to watch such trite material is proof that they are no better than animals. Because of this we are trained like dogs to obey the rules set forth by those intelligent few who have the apparent right to guide us. This is the prevailing mindset of those who control the airwaves. We are being degraded, kicked, and beaten by our "owners." Good people are enraged when they see someone abuse an animal. By analogy, these same people should be furious about the wide-scale abuse of the human population. The problem is that of perception itself. Because we do not recognize our own slavery, we are unable to do anything about it. We are living the lives of abused dogs, and we unfortunately feel powerless to do anything about it.

I commend Nathan Janes for recognizing this horrible abuse for what it is, and more importantly for making the decision to do something about it. By using the powerful symbol of the dog in a way which draws attention on our unfortunate situation he has taken us one step closer to actual freedom. The control of the mass mind of society is ancient, but so too is the desire to break free from the bonds of slavery. As good human beings we have the duty to recognize abuse for what it is, so that we may put an end to it. This is the true power of the mind. Please don't take your own nature for granted, because when you do, someone else is free to use it for their own gain.

Mass Mind Control is Upon Us - It's Time to Awaken Your Consciousness

Many people may not realize that when they turn on the television in their home, what they see as a constant flow of images is actually flickering. Although we do not see this consciously, the repetitive pattern of flickering images creates a state that is similar to hypnosis in the television viewer. Studies by researcher Herbert Krugman have shown that within 30 seconds of television viewing, brain waves switch from predominantly beta waves, indicating alert and conscious attention, to predominantly alpha waves, indicating an unfocused, receptive lack of attention. The brain's left hemisphere, which processes information logically and analytically, tunes out while the person is watching TV, while the right hemisphere of the brain, which processes information emotionally and non-critically, is allowed to function without hindrance. Due to this phenomenon, television transmits information, which is not actively thought about at the time of exposure, much like hypnosis. When viewing television, we do not consciously rationalize the information resonating within our unconscious depths at the time of transmission and the viewer becomes more open and suggestible.

Because of the passive, hypnosis-like viewing of television as well as its predominance in the homes of nearly all Americans, the television is one of the most powerful tools used today. As of 2009, six companies controlled all of the major media outlets in the United States. That is a very small number of people controlling all of the information that streams into millions of homes across America each day through their television sets. In recent years, a number of investigations and exposes have revealed that these giants’ silence independent voices and investigations, discourage journalism that interferes with the agendas of special interests, and eliminate diversity in the information they provide. Because of the control that these companies have over the information that most Americans receive on a daily basis, these criticisms and revelations are never known by most of the American public.

These media giants work hand and glove with the federal government as well as many multinational corporations to disseminate carefully planned messages. Through the television and other forms of media, they tell you what to think about, what to worry about, what to smile about, and what to be scared of. They have sold the public on the idea of the newscaster being an extension of the family, a trusted figure who encourages the acceptance of the information being presented as true and accurate. In 2008, the pentagon spent more than $2 billion compensating major media outlets for disseminating public relations messages. These messages are delivered to the television viewer as news produced by the television station, not as paid and produced by the pentagon. In the same year, pharmaceutical companies paid television outlets more than $4 billion for advertising, which included Video News Releases (VNR), specially tailored pieces that appear within the nightly news disguised as researched and reported by the local stations. No other industrialized nation in the world allows drug ads on television let alone these cleverly disguised VNRs hidden within the news.

And yet while all this has been happening behind the scenes, the American public has been duped into staking all their trust in select major media outlets as they express brand loyalty in television stations, newspapers, and magazines. Many people have been tricked into believing that the mainstream media reports only objective news while any information delivered from outside the mainstream is to always be questioned. Somehow the public has bought into the idea that the TV wouldn't lie to them. Many people will not pay any regard to information that is not covered by the major media; if they did not hear about it on the nightly news then they simply don't care. This is the mindset that the major media moguls want us to have, as we are willfully ignorant and obedient to their every direction. Our unanalytical and loyal viewership is in their best interest.

Major media news networks continually bombard us with the possibility of an endless amount of scenarios, which produce fear and then shape our reactions to real situations. This is predictive programming; it gets us familiar with an idea so that when it happens we expect it and do not react and question. Although most people refer to television programming as the shows that are aired on television, it can also refer to the programming of the people that occurs on a daily basis. Most people believe they are just simply being entertained, but they never realize that their way of life is being shaped for them and their thoughts are actually being given to them. They are being familiarized with ideas, concepts, and fear so they won't question certain interventions in the future. TV gives us what messages must be imprinted in our minds, gives us what button to push in what sequence, and if it's done the right way with the right production and the right propaganda then the public will react and do exactly as they've been programmed to do.

When one continually controls the information, one controls the people absorbing the information. The manufactured and controlled information on TV can be referred to as the signal and that constant signal is what shapes and guides the masses to their conclusions. In order to take back our minds, we must first learn to "Unplug the Signal." By turning off your TV you will realize the world that you're living in is suddenly very unfamiliar to you. You will see that news of no importance is constantly debated and analyzed, and as you listen to the conversations of people around you, you realize they're talking robots just repeating what they've heard on the news. This is exactly what Zbigniew Brzezinski talked about in his book "Between Two Ages". He said, "Shortly, the public will be unable to reason or think for themselves. They'll only be able to parrot the information they've been given on the previous night's news."

Activist Artist: Nathan Janes

While once engaged by the television set and other forms of the mass media, Nathan Janes began to notice that the reality that he was being sold was not his own. In a society saturated with meaningless advertising art with no substance Janes became inspired to create works that would both inspire individual thought and awaken ones social conscious. According to Janes, "It's time people quit living a life of constant entertainment and start engaging in critical thought while questioning the barrage of commercial images and propaganda that they are faced with each day."

Janes strives to combat the popular perception that fine art can only be in certain styles or of certain subjects. According to Janes, "Now more than ever I am striving to push my work so that the family pet is used as an artistic tool to depict deeper questions and messages about our society. Everyone can relate to the family dog but not everyone has a cognizance of the social issues that I depict in my paintings. The dogs serve as a bridge for individuals to journey into topics and questions that they may have never explored before but certainly affect their lives nonetheless."

"It's difficult to make it in the art world when you are an independent artist competing against those that have assistance creating their work or even have factory lines that produce their original works of art for them. Most well known artists become known because they have money backing them or they are part of the machine, which has created the corporatization of art. Sorry but that's not me, I'd rather speak out about something I believe in and struggle, then be silent and get paid. At the end of the day I would rather have a disappointment while following my own vision than a success while conforming to the corporate art world. Too many artists are slaves of the corporate world. I want to be an artist that represents truth and creates paintings that represent the concerns of today. I want my artwork to be viewed as a weapon in the infowar as we fight our way into peoples' consciousness through the arts. "

Everyone can relate to the family dog but not everyone has a cognizance of the social issues that I depict in my paintings. The dogs depicted in my work serve as a bridge for individuals to journey into topics and questions that they may have never explored before but certainly affect their lives nonetheless."

In addition to his growing collection of activist art, Janes has created a number of designs, which have been used to help support various nonprofit organizations that promote animal welfare. Among these projects, Janes has designed the first official ribbon for animals, the "Orange Ribbon for Animals," which is being distributed by Rational Animal to help support animal shelters nationwide.

Nathan Janes has completed his latest work, "Tragedy and Hope," as a response to the genocide of the Tibetan people by the Chinese government. The painting is striking as it pairs the artist's usual muse and pop art style with strong and unsettling imagery. Janes says that he was moved to complete the painting as the crisis in Tibet has continued to exist for several decades with very little response from foreign governments, even in light of the recent Olympic Games held in Beijing. "Many people may have forgotten that Tibetan monks still go missing today and the Tibetan culture is being purposefully destroyed by the practices and policies of China." Janes fears that if citizens of the world are not cognizant of the issue, then the United States and other countries will continue to go silent due to China's role as an major economic player in the world market.

The painting, "Tragedy and Hope," marks the bloody history of Tibet as it culture and people have been eradicated by the Chinese since 1950 but it also marks the artist and other activists' hope that people will continue to cry out until justice is brought to the Tibetan people. Janes says that he "realizes many people accept the world as it is presented to them and continuing struggles such as that of the Tibetan people are not often presented to the American public through mass media outlets." He hopes that through his painting he will spread awareness about the tragic situation in Tibet to those who view his art and encourage people to learn about world events in other ways besides the mass media.

Pop ARF Gains Celebrity Status

With the recent end of his Chicago show at the Jack Gallery, Nathan Janes is happy to report the positive responses to his commissioned pieces for actress/model Caprice Bourret and Pete Wentz of the band "Fall Out Boy." Caprice's painting, "Roly & Stinker" has been spotted in her lingerie boutique in London while "Hemingway" has been met with the jealous eyes of Pete's newest dog, Rigby, in his California home.

Pete Wentz is bassist for grammy-nominated "Fall Out Boy," a pop punk/emo-rock band from Chicago. Pete's English Bulldog has gained popularity among the fans of Fall Out Boy even having his own Facebook and Myspace profiles on the two networking sites. Hemmingway, named after Pete's favorite author, debuted on television in FOB's video of "The Take Over, The Breaks Over."

Caprice Bourret gained fame after modeling for several years for Calvin Klein and becoming the face of such products as Diet Coke, Pantene, and Wonderbra. Caprice loves to dote on her two dogs. Serving only the best organic food to Roly and Stinker, Caprice notes that the two Chihuahuas probably eat better than many humans. The average day at home for this trio could include spending a day in bed while cuddling and watching scary movies.

Nathan Janes is becoming increasingly known in the world of art for his pop art stylings of dogs. CHICAGO - This year in the Windy City, the dog days of summer are starting early. On June 6, Jack Gallery Chicago at 678 North Wells Street will open “Family Dog Meets Family Dog,” an exhibition that intersects the work of modern artists such as Nathan Janes, Tom Everhart, Patrick McDonnell (creator of the popular MUTTS comic strip) and Matt Rinard, who often employ dogs as their subjects, with the work of Stanley Mouse, Alton Kelley, Wes Wilson and Rick Griffin, the San Francisco-based Family Dog artists of the 1960s and 70s. The exhibition is scheduled to run through July 12.

Viewers will be able to see such unique works as Nathan Janes’ “One Nation Under Dog,” a painting featuring a pit bull in the garb of a saint; “With Liberty and Justice for All,” which calls attention to the controversies surrounding the disasters of September 11, 2001; and “Doofler,” a playful image of a bespectacled canine standing before a blackboard covered in mathematical equations. Janes hopes to encourage the humane treatment of dogs and other animals through his artworks. According to Janes, “I am striving to push my work so that dogs are used as an artistic tool to depict deeper questions and messages about our society.” Janes will make an appearance at the gallery on June 6 from 6-9 p.m.

Viewers seeking a dog of a different breed will be treated to a number of the works of the Family Dog artists of the 1960s and 1970s, including Stanley Mouse, Alton Kelley, Wes Wilson and Rick Griffin. Through the artwork they created to promote the new acts and albums of the 1960s counter culture, the Family Dog artists helped to initiate a new and important direction in American art. Among the artwork featured will be Mouse’s and Kelley’s “Skeleton and Roses,” “Zebra Man,” “Frankenstein,” and “Zig Zag Man,” along with Wilson’s “The Quick and the Dead,” and Rick Griffin’s “Pay Attention AKA Space Man.” S2 Art Group, the parent company of Jack Gallery, is working with Rhino Entertainment to recreate hand-pulled lithographs of the most influential rock posters of the Family Dog artists.

Also included will be the paintings of Tom Everhart, many of which prominently feature the beloved Peanuts character Snoopy. As a result of Charles Schultz’s deep appreciation of Everhart’s work, Everhart remains the only artist authorized to include Peanuts characters in his or her paintings. In addition, lovers of Patrick McDonnell’s popular comic strip MUTTS, which features the adventures of Earl the dog and feline friend Mooch, will enjoy viewing recently released lithography of his work. Since its appearance in 1994, McDonnell’s strip has become one of the most popular in history, appearing in over 20 countries throughout the world. Visitors will also have a chance to view the works of New Orleans’ Matt Rinard. Much of Rinard’s work is inspired by his two pets, and is touched by a sense of humor that he finds lacking in other art.

A world leader in limited-edition fine art lithography, Jack Gallery exhibits paintings, works on paper and meticulously crafted hand-signed lithographs by internationally renowned artists. “Family Dog Meets Family Dog” is an excellent opportunity for both art collectors and dog lovers to enjoy some of the best artwork of dogs in contemporary pop art and senotoriety of the Family Dog artists has influenced popular art in America today.

Nathan Janes Releases 9/11 Truth Pop Art

Nathan Janes, who has become known for his fun and light-hearted renderings of man’s best friend, has released his newest painting of a much more serious subject matter. The painting, titled “With Liberty and Justice for Dog,” represents a movement within the United States and abroad that seeks answers to questions about the catastrophic events that occurred on September 11, 2001. Within the last two years a number of celebrities and public officials have come forward to support the growing movement including Charlie Sheen, Rosie O'Donnell, Mos Def, Gov. Jesse Ventura, Aaron Russo, Raymond L. McGovern, and many more.

Janes says that he was inspired to complete this painting in order to make more people aware of the questions that have remained unanswered by the 9/11 Commission Report and by officials within the federal government. “Once you look closely at the events that happened on September 11, a lot of holes appear in the story,” Janes says. “So many people have died as a result of this event and we all deserve to know the truth about the events that led up to 9/11.”

The painting depicts a dog wearing a stars-and-stripes blindfold and surrounded by a ring of seven stars. Janes explains that, “The stars represent World Trade Center Building Seven, which mysteriously fell on September 11 even though it was not hit by an airplane nor sustained any major fires or damage from the collapse of WTC Buildings One and Two.” The patriotic blindfold represents the apprehension that many Americans have in accepting that the government could be capable of intentionally harming its citizens. Also depicted in the painting is the ‘All Seeing Eye’ and stealth bombers, which Janes says represent the power that the government has seized over the American people in modern times.

Ya know how manufacturers market identical products under multiple brand names?

This same marketing tactic is used by the two primary political parties today to create the illusion of competition and opposing values. On the surface, the two parties differentiate themselves based on some hot button issues using labels like conservative and liberal, or right and left. However, have you noticed that even though the people occupying the offices of the presidency and the house change periodically and power shifts from the democrats to the republicans, the direction of the country doesn’t really change much at all? It would seem that both political parties are really headed for the same destination. They just take slightly different routes to get there.

Party loyalty is used by politicians in much the same manner that brand loyalty is used by manufacturers. It has to do with creating the perception in the mind of the constituent that the democratic candidates are fundamentally different from the republican candidates, when in reality most are driven by the same basic motivations; namely money, greed, and power.

Free-thinking individuals step outside the left/right paradigm and are not blindly loyal to any political party. They consider each candidate based on their record of honesty and integrity and their support for American values such as the constitution of the United States and rights and freedoms of the individual, a record that can only be established by actions that support words. Furthermore, they are aware of, and they vote for candidates that are aware of and oppose, the globalist New World Order agenda. If we are to survive as a nation, we must consider America as a sovereign nation worth fighting for and not as a spoke in the wheel of globalism. We must also turn away from collectivist thinking and return to the moral values upon which our nation was founded. If we do not, we will not survive as a nation much longer. It’s as simple as that.

UNDERDOG movie worth barking about!

Let me start off by saying that Underdog the movie is a grrrrrrrrrrreat movie that will leave your stomach hurting from all the laughing. I just went and watch this movie on opening night and I have to say this movie is worth 4 paws and one tail up! It's a grrrrreat film that will leave you laughing the whole way through the film. Kids are going to flip out over Underdog, I'm telling ya! Everyone in the theater seemed to love this movie as well with all the laughter that was heard during the film. One thing this film does remind us is that dogs say the darndest things. Underdog (voiced by Jason Lee of "My Name is Earl") has a nack of making you burst into laughter from the goofy quotes and funny antics this character displays.

I say to the people giving negative feedback about this movie, they are just barking up the wrong tree. Most of which probably did not even watch the movie and just follow the popular false beliefs on how movies are made. I have a strong feeling that people will be barking all about this movie and it will be very successful in Theater viewings and DVD sales. Underdog is most certainly "Top Dog" when it comes to blockbuster movies for the month of August!
Go see this movie today and thank me later.

What's the story:

The world needs a hero and man needs a best friend. They get them both when a scientific experiment goes wrong, leaving an ordinary beagle (oddly named Shoeshine Boy) with extraordinary abilities. What kind of abilities? He can fly! He can speak contemporary American English! He doesn't seem to mind wearing a sweater and cape! And, he's curiously monogamous! That's right; he's after the (literally) fetching Polly Purebread. So when she and all of Capitol City are under threat of destruction by a sinister plot, only a certain anthropomorphic canine can save the day! After all, who doesn't like rooting for an underdog?

Three Good Reasons

You loved the cartoon as a kid. You can't wait to see if Disney did it justice or ruined it.
Jason Lee's voice work as Syndrome in The Incredibles was convincingly creepy. Now that he's playing the good guy, kids won't be quite as scared of him.
Indie-film favorite Peter Dinklage gets nasty as Simon Barsinsinter, with sitcom stalwart Patrick Warburton as his lug of a henchman.

Bet You Didn't Know

This is the first screenplay credit for two of the movie's writers, but it's old hat for score composer Randy Edelman. He's won 10 BMI Film Music Awards, including 2003's Career Achievement Award.

One Nation Under Dog: Pop Artist Nathan Janes releases Original Work of Holy Mutt

“All dogs go to heaven” is a popular saying that has particular resonance with pop artist Nathan Janes. After several years of working closely with dogs and pet guardians, Janes has had some revelations about the pure nature of dogs and often sees humanity reflected in dogs’ personalities. As an expression of these revelations, Janes has completed an original acrylic pop piece titled “One Nation Under Dog.”

The painting, reminiscent of monastery icon artwork, depicts a saintly mutt deep in reflection, adorned with a glowing halo, sacred bone, and holy garb. Janes says, “I think we would all be much better off if more people possessed the same innocence and love that I often see in dogs.” Making the connection between the phrase from the Pledge of Allegiance and his painting title, Janes remarks, “If we were “One Nation Under Dog” we might be a country where more decisions were based on compassion and peace rather than greed and violence.”

The release of Janes’ latest work comes at a time when the American public’s attention has been captured by the prevalence of animal abuse due to recent dog fighting accusations brought against NFL football player, Michael Vick. Janes says that this current event in combination with the abuse of dogs that happens every day has influenced him to convey the humanity of dogs. Janes has made a personal commitment to support the humane treatment of animals through the creation of his work as well as through the support and promotion of several animal rescue organizations across the country.

“One Nation Under Dog” is one painting of a series that Pop ARF will be releasing throughout the coming months. Janes has revealed that these works will likely get people talking as the images are quite powerful and go beyond what many people usually expect from “dog art.” According to Janes, “Now more than ever I am striving to push my work so that dogs are used as an artistic tool to depict deeper questions and messages about our society.”

Janes is becoming increasingly known in the world of art for his pop stylings of dogs, which have come to be known as “Pop ARF”. In addition to his artwork appearing in numerous national publications, Janes’ work has also appeared in Canada, Australia, Japan, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Bow 2 the Wow Wow all you Dogs and Cats! Artexpo New York was amazing, thank you to all that visited my booth and for your interest in my art. I met a lot great contacts (Publishers, Galleries, and Reps) and received really good feedback on my art.

Of the paintings featured, I sold 4 of my large paintings Rosie, Riding in Luxury, Foot Long Elegance, & 2Paw/Muttaveli:Product of a Dying Breed. I'm currently looking into some publishers and hoping to bring Pop ARF to galleries all around the nation.

A lot of people have been ask'n the question...Yo, "Pop ARF" what do you listen to these days?

Yep these boys come straight out of China Town and rock out with their wok out! Truly an original band with a sound so hard core you may find your colon spinning from the intensity of their beats. If you have not heard of this band; first what planet are you from and second go to Itunes and purchase their album "Die Hungry". I just can't get enough MSG at times...My CD player also has a bit of a fried rice smell to it now HHHMMMM? These hustlers will entertain you, make you laugh, and ladies love them!

Well, there it is....Notorious MSG is where it is at!
I'm going to try my best to get these crazy motha suckas to participate in next years Rock & Rescue NYC! Animals need a little MSG, I know my pups love it!

Hey all you fly cats and dogs out there in pet-land(Really don't know what that meant...aaggghhh the USA..the World..ya get the point..Right?) Yep, so I finished a painting recently that I will be unable to post till Christmas, because it was a commission for somebody's Christmas gift.
All I can say is that it's a "Burton Morris" inspired piece. Oh it has green in it also(I bet that helps a lot).

I also have some bitchen (representing my dogs there) paintings in the works. One will introduce you to the almighty "Doofler Glasses" and another is inspired from the old "Sideshow Banner Art" era. There's also a Hawaiian themed painting, that I've been waiting to do for awhile now since my short 4 months I spent on the island.
And....if you get lucky, I might even be pondering creating something to honor the true China Town Hustlers of our time, The Notorious MSG! I'll hit you up in a blog soon if ya haven't heard of these Motha Suckas yet.

Rocked out at Gimme Shelter NYC

Hey everyone, I just returned from the NYC and had a grrreat time at Rational Animal and the ASPCA's rock concert "Gimme Shelter Rock & Rescue NYC"! The night was amazing with so much talent and chillin in the VIP surrounded by celebrities such as Handsome Dick Manitoba, Debbie Harry, and the band members of MORE was also a bonus! I was also able to finally meet Susan Brandt the founder of Rational Animal. I have been working with her over the past year designing the "Guardian Ribbon Pin" and "Awaiting a Guardian" a painting I created to promote the Guardian Ribbon Campaign. Susan is an amazing person and I look forward to working again with her in the future. I also had the pleasure to meet Ed Sayres. He's President of one the greatest organizations; the ASPCA.

The highlight of the night had to be when the Beastie Boys came out to perform and blew the roof off that shelter! The energy was intense and everybody had their hands in the air bobbing to the rhythm of the music and the flow of the beats.

This was an amazing event and if you were unable to attend this year, mark your calendar for the first week of October next year, so that you don't miss the next annual show. This event just keeps getting bigger and better so I have a feeling next years will be even more amazing! I'd personally like to see those boyz from the "Notorious MSG" perform and rock it out for the animals! That's just my opinion.....

She wanted the colors to match her business and wanted the design to be a band for her arm that would be similiar to a dna/double helix shape. I've only designed one other tattoo and that would be the one on my shoulder, that I got back in college. I am looking to expand my tattoos down my left arm eventually.

Just wanted to let everyone know that this past weekend, "Mutz: The Urban Underdog was auctioned off and sold for $3,000.00
Along with the sculpture a limited edition Mutz print was given to the winning bidder!

Mutz will be a birthday gift to what will be the happiest 5 year old in the country! He told his mom he wanted to live with Mutz and now he will! I'll post a photo of the two if and when I receive one.

Before Pop ARF

Here is a look at some work I did just before I painted my first four-legged subject that lead into the wonderful world of Pop ARF! I've always been fascinated by animals and before I got into painting dogs; I painted ducks and other wildlife.
I’m still crazy about ducks; you’ll probably see them in a painting somewhere in the future featured with a pooch!

My latest painting in progress... This painting will be a tribute to Rational Animal’s Guardian Ribbon campaign. This ribbon is to help raise awareness of the love, compassion, and support for at-risk animals. Animal advocates can attach the ribbon to dog or cat collars so animals can be their own advocates by showing what wonderful animals come from shelters and rescues.

The neon orange ribbon color was selected to correspond with the neon orange “Adopt Me” animal vests. This vest can be purchased by animal rescue organizations to help identify animals in need of adoption in public viewing locations. Purchase vests at Dog Booties.

In my next posting of this painting, the ribbon will be painted on the dog(right now it's just penciled in!)

The orange Animal Guardian Ribbon helps people show their support for animals. Orange is the ribbon color officially registered for animals with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and Rational Animal oversees proper use of the ribbon.
The orange ribbon color was selected by the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals to correspond with the orange “Adopt Me” vests worn by dogs at adoption events.

Animal advocates can attach the ribbon to dog or cat collars so animals can be their own advocates by showing what wonderful animals come from shelters and rescues.

Over 20,000 free Animal Guardian Ribbons have been distributed in NYC and to communities nationwide.
Rational Animal has worked with artist Nathan Janes to design the new pewter Animal Guardian Ribbon pin, now available wholesale to help shelters with their fundraising efforts.

This is a design I created for my grandmothers head stone to pay tribute to her love and devotion for all animals and exspecially her pets. On September 11th 2005 she passed away from alzheimer's at the age of 75. The dog I used in the design was her dog Daisy Mae Janes( an English Springer Spaniel...Not a Britney!...inside joke), who my grandma cherished dearly. My grandma was a strong supporter of animal welfare and was a member of PETA, ASPCA, HSUS, and many, many, many, many, more organizations. I'm really happy with the way this design has turned out. I think she would be really excited to see her dog as an image to represent her passion for her pets!
If all dogs go to heaven, then that must mean my grandma has plenty of friends right now keeping her company!

I just returned from the Forsyth Humane Society’s Art Unleashed event in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and all I can say is that it was a howling grrrreat time! There was so many awesome designs and fabulous artist in attendance! Mutz was a shinning splendor of doggie super heroness! We got to lead the pack in the front of the parade too!! The event was packed with dogs big and small! There was also an endless amount of food and amazing dog and cat lovers offering goods to the spectators and their four legged furry friends.

At the end of the parade I parked Mutz outside her permanent foster home for the summer at 6th and Vine. Which I must say has an amazing menu and of course the wine was terrific!! The crab cakes are the best I have ever had!!!
